#206

December 21, 2014

  • Refusaleth crashes Insanus’ island on top of Guntaur, someplace in upper Creepwood

#205

December 14, 2014

NOTES

  • Mogrum’s improvements on the Skatalyx are visible when compared to their last appearance
  • This is Refusaleth’s first full reappearance since his severe wounding in #161 (partial, #178); he has a headstone, and the shield on his chest is based on Rene Belloq’s, from the climax of Raiders of the Lost Ark (with accurate crystal placement)
  • Initially, banners were displayed beneath Refusaleth’s throne, representing countries he had conquered (Drymouth’s is visible in panel 5, with placeholders for three more countries, representing Refusaleth’s accountability)
  • Refusaleth moves from his throne down hundreds of steps to an inch from Guntaur’s face in the blink of an eye, then holds an impossible, almost anti-defensive posture on his toes at a 45-degree angle, then “teleports” himself and Guntaur, after doing that nightmare-mouth thing he does, indicating that he has grown exponentially in power
  • Quiatas rarely speaks Refusaleth’s name

#204

December 7, 2014

NOTES

  • How does Zaz know the books are banned? Did she recognize the titles, or is it because the books contain methods that are forbidden?
  • Banned books Zaz finds: How To Swap Bodies, How To Change Matter. and How To Breathe Underwater
  • Zaz is familiar enough with the Sacred Testament to know that it includes neither Xenihilo nor Refusaleth
  • Who or what is at the end of the hallway behind Zaz, in panel 5?
  • Cornelius lost his blade in the waterfall (#195); how could it end up there in panel 8?

#203

November 30, 2014

NOTES

  • Patrons of the Creepwood Roadhouse are based on Ted Danson and John Ratzenberger from Cheers
  • Tremenz claims he can smell a man; could that be Karbunkel?

  • Malechivisto, an ancient Codefather, notates several major events in the book Zaz reads from: the loss of the Lost Book, Faddlegas turning to stone, Nefaria speaking a Dread Conundrum and sinking a continent, and the emergence of Refusaleth Badidea
