#309

January 8, 2017

NOTES

  • Could there be a reason why Yakimastu Obeisan and Refusaleth have the same hair and skin color? Yakimastu even has a nose ring
  • Refusaleth delineates his finding of the living-rock Gargiles on the bottom of Lake Ziera (the “Sunken Kingdom”), and how he corrupted them by overloading them with true evil, combining them into the colossal Gargrudgen, who carried him across the ocean to Midiria
  • Refusaleth fires a full potency blast at Yakimastu’s face in panel 7, which would have vaporized his head, had the councilor not professed his lack of belief in Refusaleth’s existence

#308

NOTES

  • First page of 2017, on the first day of 2017

#306

December 18, 2016

NOTES

  • This messenjerk delivers a “flipper” message (flip book) to Candlewary, remarking that it’s “non-fatal”, referring to the typical method of self-destructive communication
  • Because Candlewary still has faith in Aga, he can hear Jellyback’s voice as he flips the pages of the message
  • Jellyback reports that the Sideland of Ystyr is ravaged by the Dark Unmentionable Obsolesmus

#305

December 11, 2016

NOTES

  • St. Madinis, capitol of Quondry, is where the old Midirians exiled those whom they judged “impossible”; Shoadomites run it
  • St. Madinis is based upon optical illusions, such as the Impossible Trident, or MAD “poiuyt”

  • Eldlyfe’s weirdly-angled privilege is fully visible in panel 10

#303

NOTES

  • “The Troubles” is a social euphemism for the massacre of the peoples of the Frontlands
  • Allied Kingdom councilor Pael Natricarus objects to fellow councilor Yakimastu Obeisan’s desperate gambit with Refusaleth (panel 7)

#302

November 20, 2016

NOTES

  • Someone is holding a “GRAVER THAN YOU” sign in panel 5
  • In panel 9, the Dark Unmentionable Holocough is obliterating Castle Inway

#301

November 13, 2016

NOTES

  • The crowd at the right edge of panel 2 references the back cover of Frank Zappa’s The Man From Utopia (1983)
  • The Tournament of Greatest (and its announcer) are obvious references to Dragonball Z (“Tournament X”)
